Millennium Goal 5: Poetry by `anthonyasael:iconanthonyasael:

Original Poem by Monica Keda , 10 years from Cameroon in French

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
English Translation

Oh simple woman, on your,
back I slept when you crushed the
milled for dinner and when
you went toward fields

Oh mother, simple woman,
Your songs that I learned
When you trampled the peanuts
And when you rocked me
Not so long ago

Oh mother
Simple woman, I thank you
For your milk and for your
Songs, for happiness in
the house, I thank you
a thousand times, oh my mother

Millennium Goal 5: Improve maternal health
Target for 2015: Reduce by three-quarters the ratio of women dying in childbirth.
Many people consider the day their child was born the happiest day in their life. In the world's wealthier countries, that is. In poorer countries, the day a child born is all too often the day its mother dies.A woman dies from complications in childbirth every minute – about 529,000 each year (99% of these occur in the developing world.). In Sub-Sahara Africa world, the risk of dying in childbirth is one in 16, but in the “developed world” virtually all countries now have safe motherhood programmes (1 in 4000)… Healthy children need healthy mothers . This is the largest difference between poor and rich countries of any health indicator.

I've decided to make my signature plain and simple, so I've put up this one sentence describing my signature.
